Dr. Simon Durrant is a cognitive neuroscientist from the University of Lincoln (UK), where he is currently Director of the Sleep and Cognition Laboratory.  Originally trained as a musician, Durrant holds PhDs in psychology (University of Sheffield, UK) and neuroscience (University Sussex, UK), and uses a variety of techniques in his work including empirically measuring behaviour, functional neuroimaging and computational modelling. His work is highly interdisciplinary, combining interests in computational neuroscience, the psychology of music and the neuroscience of sleep, and has been published widely in journals such as Current Biology, Cererbal Cortex, Neuroimage and Trends in Cognitive Science. His current focus is on sleep and memory consolidation, and the neural mechanisms underlying sleep EEG
