        报告题目:  Sparse modeling with applications to bioimaging and bioinformatics

        报告摘要:
        As a powerful statistical and computational approach developed recently, sparse data representations including compressive sensing techniques have found successful applications in many disciplines such as signal and image processing, communications, medical imaging and geophysical data analysis.  In this talk, I will present our recent research on the development of sparse models, with a focus on their applications to a variety of bioimaging and bioinformatics problems. We will show a variety of examples on the use of sparse representation models for the analysis of microarray imaging, cancer subtyping, chromosome image classification and integration of SNPs and fMRI imaging data for diseases diagnosis, demonstrating their powerful applications. 

        报告人简介: 
        Dr Yu-Ping Wang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering & Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, Tulane University. His current work focuses on information extraction and integration from multiscale and multimodality genomic imaging data.
