摘要：Amplitude amplification in nonlinear dispersive wave equations caused by nonlinear focusing of waves on a finite background will be presented. The mathematical model for surface wave packet of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation is adopted and a displaced phase-amplitude solution is discussed using a variational formulation. The corresponding breather types of solutions are obtained and their relationships will also be explained.
